Successful movement in leadership practices and organizational culture must start somewhere. Assessments are an excellent tool to gain insights into what's here now. At Bixa, we often use assessments to kick off a leadership or organizational development program. They provide a baseline to work from, and offer us greater levels of self awareness. 

Many assessment tools exist, and at Bixa, we make sure to use the right one for the right situation. Here are a few of the assessment tools we commonly use. 


Self AssessmentS 

Meyers-Briggs Type Indicator (MTBI)
Introspective self-reporting personality assessment designed to indicate psychological preferences in how individuals perceive the world and make decisions. 

Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument (TKI)
Conflict style inventory designed to measure an individual's response to conflict situations. This tool plots conflict handling styles along two axes, called "assertiveness" and "cooperativeness" and identifies five different styles within these axes. 

 

360-degree Feedback TOOLS

360-degree feedback tools are a way to systematically collect feedback on an individual's performance from a wide range of co-workers. This could include peers, direct reports, the boss, the boss's peers — along with people outside the organization, such as customers. The benefit of collecting data of this kind is that the person gets to see a panorama of perceptions rather than just self-perception, which affords a more complete picture.

Leadership Circle Profile
While most 360-degree assessments tell you only what is or is not contributing to a leader’s effectiveness, the Leadership Circle Profile also tells you why. This tool measures competency and underlying assumptions along two primary leadership domains: Creative Competencies and Reactive Tendencies. 

Leader Engagement Profile
Assesses the blind spots between how individual leaders assess themselves within a set of nine engagement triggers, and how their co-workers assess them. 

 

Team & Organization Profiles

Leadership Culture Survey
Provides a deep scan of an organization or leadership team's culture, and correlates leadership tendencies to productivity, profits, turnover and other bottom line metrics. This tool reveals how your people view their current leadership culture, and compares that reality to the optimal culture they desire. The “gap” between the current culture and desired culture uncovers opportunities. This survey also provides benchmark data between your leadership culture and that of other comparable organizations. 

Organization Engagement Survey
This assessment tool, which is proprietary to Bixa, identifies gaps between how individual leaders value nine core measures of engagement, and how the organization is perceived to value these same measures. This assessment focuses on employee engagement and is primarily designed to discover opportunities to improve employee retention. 

Personalysis Assessment
This powerful personality assessment discovers ways to enhance interactions and performance of teams and organizations by revealing how personality strengths and vulnerabilities drive commitment, communication, and style preferences. This assessment supports our Life GPS course.
